My lucky shots of the year came this past Thursday evening, June 25th as thunderstorms came to the Kansas City area. I had found a spot with an almost clear view of the downtown skyline from near Mission Road next to I-35, so I stood there in the grass next to the highway to get some skyline photos. A storm rolled in, and I managed to get some lightning photos. Later than evening my home’s power went out – and stayed out for twelve hours, as I heard that at least 100,000 people or homes in the area were without electricity that Friday morning.

The lightning moved east to southeast from there, and I got one more lighting shot (this is actually three different lighting strikes in the same area blended into one single photo…)
