Chicago loop skyline aerial panoramic pic taken from above Grant Park on August 14, 2017. The large park area is a good launching and drone-op spot as long as there are no park events happening. I was fortunate to find some empty baseball diamonds on weeknights where I was away from people and crowds, and could maintain my line of sight on the drone while it was flying. If Coachella was happening, then, NO!
I have begun saving screenshots of my “drone flight plans” on the 1800wxbrief web portal. The online portal helps stay within the new FAA guidelines for commercial drone usage. There were occasional no-fly zones or temporary flight restrictions while I was in Chicago, once for an air show, and more frequently if there are games happening at Wrigley or Guaranteed Rate Field.
